GUNS - PLASTICS - POLITICANS!

2018-02-22
Ashe said it all so well. Some of us have known for many years about the huge plaques of plastic festooning our oceans and torturing our wildlife. Thankfully now more people are aware, but i still think it's too late.

THE KIDS OF FLORIDA!

2018-02-22
Short and to the point Ken. Another obscene tragedy. What do you think of teachers being trained to use arms?

NOW I'M NO SOUPER CLEVER POET!

2017-05-16
Love it Ken. (I know Walt Whitman well!)

OH TO BE ELSEWHEAR!

2017-05-16
Such a sad comment left by Helen! Anyway Ken, I do understand your writing...I do truly believe that, despite the fact that we in the West are so priveledged, that all of us will one day have to answer to our Creator. (By the way, I do remember you telling me some time ago, that your relations lived in Tyndsley, Lancashire.) (A weaving town.) I have recently connected with an old school friend from Cheshire, who now lives in Tyndsley! We have met up and had a wonderful time!!!!

Purposeful and Pure Dog Sense

2017-05-16
Just read this again. Good on you Kathy. Loved it. (I am still drying my tears. )

Father

2017-05-16
Thank you all for your comments, greatly appreciated. It is now 17 years, but it is still so heart-breaking. We who had good fathers have much to be thankful for.

The Trump has Triumphed.

2017-05-16
I do know what you are saying...but I can't help but hope that he pulls it off!

Purposeful and Pure Dog Sense

2017-02-09
Wow. I read this and almost wept. Then I scrolled up and saw the photo...then I did. Bless you, we need more people like you, I loved the poem.

TRUMP AMAZING - UNITING THE WORLD!

2017-02-09
Holey Moley Ken, I have read this a few times, and still cannot decide if you love or hate him. (I love him, he scares me, but those against him scare me even more.) Did you see in the paper today, Obama on holiday with Richard Branson on his island of Necker? I tell you now that Obama is living the life of Riley with a pocket and bank full of dollars!!! He does not give a S--- about the fate of the American people, or the whole world.

you will see

2016-10-04
O my! Here you are again, so often have been in my thoughts as I have been ill myself and away from the site. Sooo glad to see you here, and a lovey poem to boot! Ci vediamo, speriamo. Auguri!

Sing a Song of Springtime

2016-10-04
Ilove the title, it's a favourite theme of my own. Love this little write, it made me think of the old maxim, "In the midst of life we are in death.."

My sleep has memory

2016-10-04
It seems that I just woke up. A very clever write, which I think that you should send to some of the clever folk who are conducting research into dreams, I mean it.

Do not shed tears

2016-10-04
A wonderful and sad poem. It contains many truths and I applaud you!

Holocaust Remembrance Day 27.1.2016

2016-01-28
To have thoughts and memories like yours must be terrible. I cannot begin to imagine what it must be like. It's bad enough just knowing about it all. Thankyou for penning this.

My own two feet.

2015-11-04
By your words, I am sure that you will make it. Keep strong, better times are ahead.

Your kiss.

2015-11-04
Terza rima is Italian for "third rhyme." It was first used, i think, in Dante's "Inferno." Well done.

LIFE CAN BE LIKE THAT! THE BRITISH SOLUTION! (a mate of mine suffering the blues)

2015-11-04
Oh Ken! I have just put the kettle on! Sugar and milk, or just lemon?
Here is a song which I remember from a record of the early 1960's...it was narrated by Vivien Leigh, and contained a song sung by "Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle," the washerwoman hedgehog of Beatrix Potter's story.

When the troubles of the day are over
there is nothing can comfort me
like a real, hot, strong cup of tea!

One for each person
one for the pot;
pour on the water, boiling hot,
let it brew, a stir or two..
a gleaming cup, fill it up,
a couple of sips, a smack of the lips
Oh what a delicious thing to do!!

It is beautifully satisfying,
O what could better be,
than a real, hot, strong cup of tea!

Hope your friend sees the sunlight soon.

Manicure

You nailed it Jenks...as always!

Behold!

2015-08-02
Behold...I tell you a mystery.

Continuity

2015-08-01
Love! I once, many years ago, read a work by Stendhal, of which I remember nothing. Perhaps I was too young, and should read it again.
I do remember Biblical words..."Love suffereth long and is kind.."
I also believe that familial love is far stronger than sexual.
Enjoyed your words.

A LION CALLDE CECIL

2015-08-01
Ken, I was not outraged because I did not know until now, that educated, rich, priveledged people got pleasure from killing animals. Cecil and his story is now big news, and although I care about animals, I did not know that it was still legal to shoot animals in Africa! I know that it is legal here in England, (and that disgusts me,) but the wildlife in Africa is so threatened...
Did you know that most Serial Killers start their "career" by killing animals?

CYRIL THE LION AND ALI SAAD DAOBASA

2015-08-01
Please don't take this the wrong way Ken, but an animal death distresses me far more than a human one!
I do take your point, although mine is a different one.
With Very Best Wishes..

All those things

2015-08-01
Just brilliant Elle! The second time sounds just about right, though I never did it even once, and I never regret that fact, although everyone said that I would! Very clever write.

ALI SAAD DAOBASA AGDE EIGHTEEN MONTHS

2015-08-01
O my! This is a tragic write and read...I grieve for any creature so brutally and selfishly killed. Here Ken, you have poured out your heart very cleverly. I hope that I don't offend you, (or anyone else,) when I say that I grieve more for the animals of this world, than for the human beings who seem to be just destroying every good thing.

I Would Kiss You

2015-07-21
Each line brought a very graphic and beautiful memory. Well done.

THOSE WHO HAVE GONE

2015-07-21
The pain of the loss of my Father and Mother is always with me Ken, and it is not true that time heals...the initial agony goes away, but the pain and sorrow remain. I loved reading this, but it brought more than one tear.

STUFF HAPPENS

2015-07-21
I love the first two words of your title, they are so True! The rest, well, we have all been there...

Daddy's Little Girl?

2015-07-21
Sad. In fact extremely sad...some people should just not be allowed to breed. I was so lucky, I had a wonderful Dad, but on the other hand, now that he is dead, my life is not the same, and I just miss him all the time.

SHIRLEY CRABTREE AKA '' BIG DADY '' (thanks to Jamsbo Rockda)

2015-07-16
Ken, you took me right back to my schooldays, Saturday afternoons my sisters and my mum all watching the wrestling! Nothing like it, I do remember Giant Haystacks, Mick McManus and Billy 2 Rivers in particular!
Thanks for the memories, and the info too!

Today I Saw A Hedghog.

2015-07-16
I enjoyed this so much. Very amusing, and a wise anecdote too.

Daddy's Little Princess

2015-07-13
This little poem gave me a kick...there are some good humans out there. I love the rhyme and rythm in this poem, but most of all the theme!
Dogs are the best companians that we can have, and they are indeed worth much more than money.
I cannot watch the adverts that pop up on the internet, showing abused dogs, donkeys etc. I have to pop over to something else, as it just upsets me so much. Then along comes an ad showing abused or starving child humans..it does not bother me at all, in fact I find it rather boring. Am sorry to say it...am I abnormal?
I loved your Princess poem, give her a cuddle from me!

The Best Thing That Money Is Good For

2015-07-13
Randy, this is so true!
I love your thoughts, and the way that you communicate them with us. Very Well Done.
Normalil.

I Can't Believe In Darwin's Theory

2015-07-13
Wow! It was cleverly written, but the theme is just up my street!
I agree with you that I cannot accept Darwin's theory, and that is because...his theory of evolution may or may not be true..if it IS true, who was behind it?
The Creator.
Keep up the good work, I like what I have read so far of your work.
Best wishes. Normalil .

The Thirteenth Day Of July

2015-07-13
I can feel the sadness in this poem, so eloquently expressed in simple words. I truly feel for you...was this person your parent?
Time does heal, but the pain never really goes away...I lost my father 13 years ago, but I never ever forget him. This write of yours gives me strength and joy, that other people never forget their loved ones. You wrote it in simple and direct terms which I can understand completely. My thoughts are with you. (So strange, I have a sister to whom I am very close, today is her 62nd birthday, she has just got the "all clear" from uterine cancer. I am sorry that your loved one did not get the same good news.
I really felt for you on reading your poem.
Bless you,
normalil

THE YELLOW BIRD

2015-07-13
The bird I hope, is hiding behind one of the bananas! I am intrigued to read of your inspiration.

Write me a moonstone

2015-07-13
Lovely. I had visions dancing in my head.

PoetBay is 10 years old!

2015-07-13
Congratulations, and thankyou. Here's to another decade.

Ode to a Raccoon

2014-12-23
You wrote well about the tragedy and the effect it had on you. Any sad thing to do with animals always affects me...it was not your fault, I do hope the writing acted as some therapy for you. God bless all creatures great and small.

Perseids

2014-10-22
The Tears of Saint Laurence are worth more than that guy who let you down!

Alone

2014-10-22
First four lines are true, but will pass. The last one will not, and remembering that will negate future recurrence of the first four! (Forgive my cynicism.)

Forest of Bere.

2014-10-22
It's been a long time. I am hoping, after re reading this great poem, that you are ok.

swallows

2014-10-22
Magnificent observation, and even better conclusion. Loved it Peter.

here I am

2014-10-22
O my goodness, there you are . Am so pleased to see you, as I don't get to the site that often. You have been often in my thoughts, and now it seems that you are well, and in Italy...enjoy, and my best wishes go with you. Thanks for the very enjoyable read, I loved the "snooty" bit"

The Human Race

2014-10-22
2 years later, I re read this masterpiece! Well done, my opinions have not changed, only intensified in fact, and I still envy you your magnificent eloquence.

Autumn to Winter

2014-10-22
I like it. It's my kind of subject, and you are one of the few Poetbay poets who actually rhyme! I always try to rhyme, and sometimes feel guilty for doing so! Keep up the good work.

Chocolate Biscuit

2014-10-22
Amen! (and they are calorie free if eaten whilst standing up!)

Every Dog Has His Day

2014-10-22
Just read this again and had a good laugh! Bravo!

Beck

2014-06-12
This reminds me of "Inversnaid," by Gerard Manley Hopkins. Cheers Linda!

THE ARTIST PUB

2014-06-12
Keep away from that place Ken! It would be nice to know that you are spending your time here writing words for us to enjoy, but there's another watering hole where you would be welcome...(I feel it in my water!) Keep smiling, writing, and searching! Sometimes, it's better not to know most of the human race...that's just my feelings!

Moonlight

2014-06-12
I found this a very clever piece of writing Elle. Short and to the point, with a great little message. Loved it!
