If only

If only I could live
Somewhere between here and there
Somewhere near
Somewhere very near
And close enough to ruffle your hair



If only I could hover around
Enter and leave
Come and go
At my whims and fancy
Not for anything in particular
But just like that
To see you work
To trouble you some or lots
And laugh it off.

If only I could see you write
And recite poems to you
If only we could read together.
Silence smiling between us.
