he'd fix you with his eyes
neutral look
he'd listen - hear you out
say very little - just so you
know - he were a listening
nod - saying very little
puff gently on his pipe
then when heard you out
tap out his pipe
should he liked you - his eyes
would show a smile
face would light up - smiles
showing
then his face and lips - be saying
'' You'll do! ''
