AND SO IT HAPPOND! (WORLD WAR ONE)
And so The War were over!It WERE over by Christmas!
So those who told us it would be!
Back in August 1914!
War were over by Christmas - 1918!
Oh what bollox - they spouted - back - THEN!
Cond us all - back in 1914!
Oh what fools we were back then!
A million dead - including the dead of The Empire!
Chipping in to the true cost and price - the lifes lost added up!
Who like us folowde the drums and fifes!
Willing to fight in the bleeding war!
As the years went - the war went on and on!
The list of those killed - published in the local papers mounted!
Less and less men and boys- lost their keeness to march off to The War!
Right up to Eleven AM, men died!
The artillery fired off - the now surplus shells!
Just how many Germans killed by 'em - I have no idea!
It Happened - and It - Happened yet again!
