Veils/Sails

Each night, he dreams he stands upon the shore
of Lake Lalune; a whistling mist conceals
the waters, breaking as two herons soar
across the skies and sing in peaceful peals

of bells; the morning clouds disperse as well,
and sky and lake are one in shades of blue;
his shore is sugar sands and satin shell
and doves in dresses, calling soothing coo

until a little boat appears; for me,
he smiles, and raises up a ready hand
to greet his lady in her silks, to be,
perhaps, two souls within a mystery land.
