Life, like sailing, has a rhythm of struggle

Upstream

The east wind counters
The rivers flow
The standing wave
A ridge below
The vessels bow
Forward always
A rhythm set
By wind and wave
By Set and drift
By time and fate

Nicely done, Joe. "Rhythm of struggle," indeed.

Joe, this is a fine lyric, gentle but firm in its articulation, confident in its measure and pacing, an accomplishment!

I enjoyed the feel of this, it certainly does evoke the rhythmic movement of a boat as it encounters the resistance of the wind on the water, like the challenges of life.
