'cold mountain' refers to poems by the chinese poet han shan

my cold mountain

i am experiencing alone in a crowd

                                      ~

as han shan went to the mountains

i came to the city

leaving the familiar behind

in order to find

so many things   kindred spirits   knowledge

truly   i came as a seeker

and as a naive innocent

i found what i came for   and more

a full range of emotions and experiences

kindred spirits and exactly the opposite

and knowledge

and the revelation of ignorance

i found the wonders of the city

from the parks   to the clubs   to the homeless

whom have somehow

become a part of my life

to the utter loneliness of being alone in a crowd

and that is new to me

Being alone in a crowd is a disheartening experience. However, I like the idea of a flâneur, a man sauntering around observing the cityscape and city-folks. Your tribute to Han Shan reminded me some of the works of the French poet, Charles Baudelaire.
