i spent three hours searching for a synonym
for                              staring

        [ clear screen ]

and found only my reflection on the dark glass.

This is a great little piece. The absurdity of searching for a word for "staring" while actually staring at a screen is the whole joke, and the poem knows it. The layout with the cleared screen and the reflection works well, turning the search into a quiet moment of self recognition. The only thing is it might be too slight for its own good. It flashes and fades, leaving a nice afterimage but not much to chew on. Still, that afterimage is pretty sharp.
