as chosen

As chosen,

I sit

inside this arrangement,

matching posture for space,

drawn into

a sketchbook's

open page.

I like how sparse and deliberate this feels. The idea of being "drawn into a sketchbook's open page" is a cool image, like the speaker is both subject and object in someone else's composition. But it's so brief that it kind of hovers without fully landing. The title says "as chosen," but the poem never really explores what that chosenness costs or means. It's a nice fragment, but it reads more like a caption than a complete piece.

Intriguing. An artist's self portrait or a statement on life.
