LOST IN WORLD OF ME

Okay I admit I'm not writing right,
It's though my mind's taken flight.
I'm feeling so disjointed in myself,
That I cannot sleep at night.

It's this damn dementia you see,
That's effecting me so I believe.
Seems it's caught me on the hop.
I can always find the start,
But I can never find the stop.

Can't find where I put my mind,
It's something that I've forgot.
It's the same as when I write,
I think i've lost the plot.

Think my carols tided up,
And stuck it in a drawer,
Wish she wouldn't do that
anymore.

No I cannot find myself,
I've looked most everywhere.
Thought I saw myself in a mirror,
But when I turned round and looked.
I couldn't see me standing anywhere.

Alan, this is so powerful. I enjoyed the way it looped to the mirror where even there, you could not find yourself. I’ve had that experience, for a different reason, of looking at myself in the mirror and not seeing me. It is very disorienting, wondering where you’ve disappeared to.

Hugs.

A real tenderness carrying both honesty and pure courage, Alan. The humour shines through and the core of genuine self. And not quite finding the familiar shape in the mirror brings it home for me. Looking forward to your next write. Rik
