make it so

in santa fe

our little house had a blue door

a bit of outside space

to sit and read   have coffee or tea

our apartment lacks outdoor space

we use the park

though less convenient

it serves our needs   not lin's

she came to us

well after our time in santa fe

she wants a home

a house   it appears time to uproot

saying the words

does not make it so   we cannot picard

our way to a new abode

we cannot beam ourselves up

one day becomes the next   effortlessly

entropy = passivity

we must engage in the process

resistance is futile

Does Lin have aspirations a shade above reality, I wonder. This poem emphasises the fact that moving house involves so much more than just a new address - perhaps that's why it is rated so high in the top-ten most stressful events in life. I think we often choose a home unknowing of the compromises it will impose on our lives. Blessings, Allen
