The afterlife of undying lovers

The crossing of the two stars

remained in the river of OM

  the river of tears

 Layla and Majnun

- Who am I? he cried

but a mortal. . . How can a mortal

experience immortal love?

Tears of sorrow and joy

fell into the river of tears

healing power

of darkness and light

and in her eyes

the flame of their love

secretly remained

 the answer to his call

If he could just see her smile

The smile of death,

he would become immortal

As a madman driven by his sorrow

he drowned in the river

and she became the burning star

The fire of the undying love

he slowly sank into the river

and from the bottom of the river

he saw a glimpse of her smile

and smiled back

- I love you, he whispered

and took his last breath

 she heard his whisper

dived in the river OM

and embraced him . . .

Two burning stars into the

river of immortality;

beyond the shadows of the past

they now live together. . .

Layla and Majnun

Romeo and Juliet

Live on in lovers' infinity

Extremely beautiful. This reminds me of a quote from the Song of Solomon, 'Love is stronger than death; Passion fiercer than the grave'. Thanks so much for sharing this eternal truth. A lovely lyrical poem which was a pleasure to read and savor.

a beautiful love story Carmen! You have written it from deep within you heart---your soul. I found myself taking deep breaths while reading this, saying, " oh, oh" and then the sigh released itself at the end. You had me totally transported to live inside of this poem.
