Shanks's pony , a British idem, meaning to walk.

HE NOW TRAVALS BY SHANKS's PONEY

He travels by old shankes pony , now getting on a bit

His old legs not what they were , cant step

It out as once he proudly did

A bit of a trot , nothing fancy and not

For long or so far, as once he did

Hills seams so much higher now

More a mounting to clime

Was a time , old shanks would run all day

Now , well , he prefers a more stately stroll

As youngsters rush on past , old Shanks

Smiles , legs resting sits upon the green

Old shanks may be getting on a bit

memory of being fleet of foot live on

But he arrives eventually!!!

I'd never heard of "Shank's pony" before reading this. But I think of you and imagine that you'd find nothing wrong with taking your time and "eventually" getting where you're going. Perhaps the journey's more important than the destination.
