longing for reunion with him

Fragments

we are pieces of ourselves

fragments

waiting to become one

when at last our love unites us again

eternally

and then we shall be whole

I can't resist adding: For me, this poem achieves a profound universality because the opening "we" reads BEAUTIFULLY in three ways: it can refer not only to the two separated lovers, but also to all of us as individuals seeking love, or even to all of humanity "waiting to become one" as a social group. Again, BRAVO!

Set as it is in the indefinite future, this has such a longing kind of beauty... it is religiously romantic in a way that an atheist can appreciate...

separation is always hard and takes time to adjust I find - I like the idea of being a fragment in space just waiting to catch up with the other part of me
