down

when sleep brings escape and escape can't be found,
down into the depths of quietness I'm doomed to roam around.
when words are not enough and enough never comes,
down into the depths of muteness there is no sound.

when solace finds no home and home is but a word,
down into the depths of loneliness I'll not be heard.
when two is never one and one is never enough,
down into the depths of mirrors my face is absurd.

when purpose has been lost and lost is the state of 'be,'
down into the depths of darkness I wander, never free.
when all I have within is written but never seen,
down into the depths of nothing.... abysmally me.

So profound. I see and feel each jumping off place, where down is your landing place. Congratulations on Editor's Choice. It is more than worthy. A truly great work.

You describe the 'Price' of not writing, oh too acutely here Kathy! A lesson for all us poets.

A beautifully tragic read, we all need our space. Just take it girl.

That 'in' on the third line of verse two, needs an s,

And you need a hug!

and a smile from

The repetitive form makes this haunting and unforgettable.

Dark but well crafted in a manner where I too am there.

Sadness is such a powerful emotion and often times we dwell in it not becuase we want to but because its a comfort, however temporary. This poem shows a descent down into the depths of darkness and regardless of how dark the poems sounds it has a subtlety that draws me in. Thanks for sharing Kathy.

Excellent work, Kathy. Brings on the sadness in me, this grief is expressed so well. And this would also make a good song. I need to get my guitar out...I haven't played it in weeks, feeling too blue to even do that....argh, how pathetic.....we need a cheer up party. :)
