I Sleep

I sleep to fight off yesterday's embers
I sleep to separate one dawn
from the next
I sleep as a nomad

that listlessly tosses
one day's plain and settles
in another
I sleep to show my lovely side

my closed eyes and potential innocence
Life remains outside staining morning
in its conclusions
when I sleep to sever from reality

to escape from transgression
that divides my head into halves
I ramify from heavy flesh
lazy and mortal

Strong images and coherence. Besides the "separate one dawn from the next" phrase that another reviewer highlighted, I also like the nomad analogy--how we wander about the desert of the day's events into the oasis of rest and respite.

Cheers,
William

Morpheus
This is a remarkable poem. The first verse sets the tone for your work, especially "I sleep to separate one dawn
from the next." That, in itself, is a wonderful bit of reality that brings this 'home' to the reader.

Its great to read your works. Thank you...
