Visit grand parents, who live in nursing home by Ann Wood
It was early morning one Saturday last year, when my mom tells me that we will visit my grand parents who live in nursing home. I get ready and put my new dress and shoes. My mother knit my hair in two braids. Then we get into the car and start our journey to the nursing home which was about two hour's way when we live. My mom plays some music and I have my breakfast in the car. She was made some sandwiches and juice. Mom stops at the petrol station to buy some fuel. I ask her can we have some ice cream and cake. She gets two ice creams and Victorian cake also two cups of tea. I get magazines and news papers for my grand parents. We back to the car and start our journey. We eat our ice creams and drink the tea. We left the cake to share it with my grand parents. My mom was make food to take them for picnic. She also has our traveling BBQ ready in the car. We will go in the forest near the nursing home. I am so happy that we will have BBQ and picnic. We also will play some board games and pubs quiz. I make small gifts for them, because it is their wedding anniversary this week. My mom also buys them gifts and plans to take them with us for short holiday in the sea side. I can't wait for our holiday next week. It is nice and sunny morning, I looking out side the nice view we just past. We arrive at nursing home 45 minutes after that. We take the basket with red roses and all gifts and get inside. Mom Signed the Visitor Book and we go to my grand parents' apartment. They was surprised to seen us so early at the morning. We give them our gifts and anniversary card. Grandma loves red roses, she always have them in her garden. We have cup of tea and cookies, before we get out for our picnic. All staff comes with cake and Champagne to say happy anniversary to my grand parents. After we eat cake and drink Champagne, for me juice. Mom did some pictures from the party. We get ready for our day out. We all get in the car and start traveling again. We travel about an hour to the beautiful country side. Mom stops the car in the car park of the park near the forest. We all get our food and the BBQ and go to found place where to sit-down. Grandpa start the BBQ when mom mixed the salads and put everything on our picnic table. Mom take her guitar and start singing, she is very good singer and player. I and grandma start playing domino and listening the song mom singing. In 2 hours our BBQ was ready for eat. We sit at the table and start eating, before that grandpa say a prayer for thanks to God for our lovely food and that we all are together again. We eat and talking about my school project and moms new job. Grandma also was having some good news for us. She says that her first poetry book is published after so many years. I was happy for her and say congratulations grandma for your book. After we finish our lunch, we start game of monopoly. We play few games and then have pub quiz. At 4:30pm we start collect our luggage and go back to the car. We clean the place after our picnic and put all rubbish in bin bag and take it with us. Once everything was in the car we start our journey back to the nursing home. We all were happy and a bit sad that have to say our good byes, but this is only for few days. Once we reach the nursing home, we go to my grand parents' apartment for cup of tea and they can open their gifts. At 6pm my and my mom left the nursing home. I was a bit sad that I will not see them until next weekend when we will go for our holiday at sea side for two weeks. On our way home we was singing and chatting about our visit at the nursing home today. When we get at home it was almost 10pm, I was so tired and getting ready for bed. In the morning we watch the pictures mom was make day before at our visit at the nursing home. We have our breakfast and clean the house. After we finish we go to the garden to play monopoly. At lunch time mom make our roast dinner and salad. After lunch I start doing my home work and study for next day. It is last week at school before the summer break. After finish my study we watching a movie on the TV. At 6:30pm we have our supper and after that I get ready for bath and bed. Before bed we call the nursing home to speak with my grand parents and say them good night. I get in my bed and read a book before I feel asleep. It was a busy and nice weekend for my family, which I will never forget.Short story by Ann Wood
