From my poetry book Flowers do speak.

SORROW

How many flies have we killed?
How many animals were our meal?
How many sins can God count
In this soul i carry as my wound?

Some say,for what to live if you are a fly?
Do they love,laugh or cry?
Or others say, for what to live if you are a snake?
Do they hug,regret or create?

Nature for me is a mystery,
been like that throughout history.
But animals life shouldn't be a bother,
they too have a mother.

How many of my tears
were for animals i do not know.
But i know i have fears,
If i come back as an animal what will i do?

I do not want to be killed to be a meal,
or to pain in vain with nobody to care for me.
What is the use of having a voice,
when you do not have a real choice?

I feel regret and sorrow,
there must be another path to follow.
Deep in my heart i am sorry.
What animals have to do with human glory?

Griffonner The PoetBay support member heart!
A poem which speaks a profound truth. I feel. I do not eat meat, mostly for the same reason as your poem infers, yet I am guilty of killing insects. I am a hypocrite. I recognise that. I just have to live with that on my conscience... and if, at the final bell, I am questioned for my hypocrisy I will say, and mean, 'At least I tried."
Will cause a lot of inward thinking you poem, Adrodite.
Blessings, Allen

Thanks Afrodite; you have summed up one of the dilemma's of human existence - Tanha, badly translated as suffering. And if you find the answer, the world will either curse or worship you.
Blessings....Dougie
