Dylan Thomas's English

can be so much
like an ocean of incomprehensible Slavic,
like Larry Jones, white-goateed, in his
navy blue beret, giving us Akhmatova
despite incipient forgetfulness.

Mr Thomas's English has always left me a step (or more) behind. Perhaps this, your poem, explains why.

I have better luck with Akhmatova b/c the translations usually smooth out the rough edges. Maybe I need to hear Mr Jone's recitations of DT.
