Charity Wakes

We passed each other's glance in the rain
As Night fell upon our eyes like a gown by Fate Designs
A fire burned solemnly a bit aways high on a hill near by
The railroads ran their ghost freights of light from Heaven to Hell
While we spoke of Love without a word for there was nothing to be said
So I held your vision pure as pain and your beauty in my blood
Sang something only ever heard in dreams about riverbanks and the end
About a world that was a walk through sleep made to keep and drown
We reached each other again at last at the corner of Faith and Hope
I met your gaze of blinding stars, left my feet and fell, "hello."
"Charity" you said "we're almost home, now rest until morning wakes."
