Maybe, Just Maybe

Woman of kind heart and of tear-tired eyes,
of dark hair dashed with gray, of forthright speech,
compassionate soul by many trials grown wise,
I want to learn all that you have to teach.

I'd like to help you, brave amid distress.
I'd soothe your nettled brow. I'd kneel beside
your beautiful and weary feet, to bless
the ground made holy by your gentle tread.

I long to be the one who binds your wounds,
who mitigates your pain, eases your hurt,
who listens to you as the day's toil ends,
and evening comes at last to heal the heart.

And maybe, just maybe, once in a while,
I'd even be the one who makes you smile.

So beautiful :) Evidently, a special love. The wish to be the one who can offer all of that to her is a feeling I can relate to for my douce moitié. Being able to be the one who can make another smile I think is the best part of love. I adored every bit of how you expressed this... but the word "nettled" on L6 particularly stood out 'cause I'd never heard a brow described like that before. The word's a perfect descriptor! J'adore ta poésie, merci.

I enjoyed reading this. Strangely, the ending stanza made it seem more personalised. (Strangely for me that is!) I plead 'not ordinary' most of the time in any case. :)
