George Washington

GEORGE WASHINGTON [History]

Apparently, even Americans don't know their own nation's history...because it wasn't taught properly. Therefore, it wasn't learned accurately, if at all.. Pre USA America was up for grabs by some of the other European nations.

An Englishman I briefly had acquaintance with, who hates Americans and America, spouted off some very ignorant statements to me, based on one of his friend's false information claiming he saw no Indians, insinuating we wiped them all out and stole their lands. He said he would rather visit India. Damn. People, try not to be so gullible to the media propaganda you have been fed or listen to others who do not know what they are talking about and driven by their emotions. There is good and bad in everything. And so, Indian humans of many groups were already here, along with other anthropological and archeological evidence of other races and cultures before those Europeans came along.....all wanting a piece of the pie.
Estimates suggest that over 1,000 distinct indigenous cultures and polities existed in pre-colonial America, speaking nearly 300 different languages. In the territory that is now the contiguous United States alone, historians and the Bureau of Indian Affairs estimate there were over 500 to 1,000 autonomous Native nations and civilizations.Because these societies were highly diverse and lacked written treaties in the European sense, pinning down an exact number is difficult. Anthropologists generally group these nations based on geographic and cultural traits. The major pre-colonial cultural areas include:The Northeast and Southeast: Home to large agricultural confederacies, such as the Iroquois Confederacy (Haudenosaunee) and the Mississippian cultures (like the Natchez and Cherokee). The Plains: Ranged from semi-permanent farming villages in river valleys to nomadic hunting bands (such as the Sioux, Comanche, and Cheyenne). The Southwest: Characterized by complex, sedentary agrarian societies like the Ancestral Puebloans and the Hohokam. The Pacific Northwest and California: Dense networks of distinct tribes, such as the Tlingit, Chinook, and Chumash, relying on rich marine ecosystems.Today, the federal government recognizes 574 Native American tribes in the United States, representing only a fraction of the vast number of sovereign nations that existed prior to European colonization.

Which brings us up to current North Carolina [where I live] events of today regarding our own Lumbee Indians, of which President Trump and his Administration helped achieve their status they have been denied so many years.

The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina is the largest tribe east of the Mississippi River, with over 60,000 enrolled members. Their traditional homeland is along the Lumber River in Robeson and surrounding counties, with their cultural and political center located in the town of Pembroke.History and OriginsThe Lumbee are a distinct Indigenous people whose ancestors include survivors of various Southeastern tribal nations, including the Cheraw, Tuscarora, and Hatteras. For centuries, these communities found refuge in the swampy, isolated lands along the Lumber River (historically known as Drowning Creek). Because they adapted to their changing surroundings over hundreds of years, they communicate primarily in English while maintaining a deep, distinct cultural identity.Federal RecognitionFor decades, the Lumbee fought for full federal acknowledgment. While the State of North Carolina recognized the tribe as early as 1885, the U.S. Congress passed the Lumbee Act in 1956, which officially acknowledged the Lumbee but denied them the federal services and benefits typically afforded to Native nations. This nearly 70-year legislative battle ended with a major victory, as federal recognition was enacted into law and the tribe was officially added to the Bureau of Indian Affairs list of recognized tribes.Culture and CommunityEducation Focus: The tribe has long placed a strong emphasis on education. In 1887, they established the Croatan Normal School, which has since grown into the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.Tribal Headquarters: The tribe's government is based in Pembroke, NC, with many social, housing, and veteran services operating out of their tribal complex, locally known as "The Turtle".Leadership: The tribe is governed by a tribal chairman and an elected council, offering programs ranging from emergency rental assistance to vocational rehabilitation. For further details on tribal services, enrollment, and cultural events, you can visit the official Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina website.8 sitesLumbee Tribe of North CarolinaHistory. President Trump significantly advanced the Lumbee Tribe's decades-long pursuit of federal recognition by fulfilling a major campaign promise. He first signed a Presidential Memorandum instructing the Department of the Interior to establish a recognition plan, and later signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) containing the Lumbee Fairness Act, formally recognizing them as the 575th Native American tribe in the U.S.This federal recognition finally overturned a 1956 congressional act that had designated the Lumbee as Native American but historically blocked them from receiving official federal benefits and services.Trump's direct actions and influences included:The Presidential Memorandum: Signed shortly into his administration, this directive ordered the Secretary of the Interior to outline and submit a plan for granting the Lumbee full federal recognition and tribal benefits. The Lumbee Fairness Act: Supported heavily by the Trump administration, this legislation was strategically attached to the 2026 National Defense Authorization Act, a must-pass military policy bill.Access to Resources: The finalized recognition grants the 60,000-member tribe full sovereign status, allowing them to establish a government-to-government relationship with the U.S. and access vital resources for housing, education, and the Indian Health Service. You can read the official announcement of the tribe's addition to the official registry on the U.S. Department of the Interior press release. Signing out for now, Diary Diarhea. No liberal, anti God or antChrist leftists will read this and understand the ignorance they radiate and the lies they project. But it does reaffirm truth for me and what and why I believe as I do. Should I forget, it's documented. No apologies.
The lake is waiting for my aerobic swim, stretch, and exercise. My body is going to absorb the sunshine and capture some vitamin D. Breathe fresh air. My mind is at peace. Stress is released. The temperature is cooler. Most of the campers have left. Paradise. Later.....
