Dreams, according to Sigmund Freud, are a reflection, a stirring up of our subconscious mind...an expression of our fears, aspirations, desires, longings, yearnings entwined into one whole to produce images in our state of slumber...psychoanalyze this...

Hot Desert Sands (A Nightmare)

I had a dream,
I was alone,
On a desert vast and bare,
The sun was shining harsh on me,
In the middle of nowhere...
All around was hot dry sand,
As far as the eye could see
The reflections off the glittering sand,
Were blinding my eyes in glee,
Mercilessly...
My lips were parched,
My throat was dry,
My skin on a cracking spree
The sand would get into my eyes,
The eyes smarted,
I could hardly see...
The gleaming sand threw up mirages
I could see the hot air rising
Shimmering like the Sea
And I knew, they were mirages,
Still,
I kept chasing those glittering beams,
In hope-against-the-hope-
A habit with me it seems-
There was not a soul in sight,
Nor an oasis I could see...
A wind rose up,
A storm broke up,
Sand was whirling up the sky,
Sand was gritting in my eyes,
In my mouth, on my tongue
Sand was everywhere
I could not see a thing:
I thought I would be buried-alive,
Buried-alive, to be fossilized,
In this hot, hot land,
My bones would turn to ashes,
Carbon, oxygen, hydrogen,
Gases...
Oh! The macabre thought!
Strange shapes conjured up
The whirling wind with the sand,
Like demons in the sky:
They seemed to mock at me-
I felt like Lear in the storm-
Only he was cold and I was warm,
Nay! Hot, very hot!
Like burning in hell!
Like, being roasted alive!
Terror stricken, with fear wrought,
I looked up heavenwards;
Prayed to God; sheer desperation:
Give me strength to bear it all!
Oh! God! Just once,
Just once!
Get me out of this infernal hell...

God, probably took pity on me...
I woke up sweating profusely:
Is this a dream?
Nay, a Nightmare!
My imagination,
Or
Just my fear,
Of finding myself
In the middle of nowhere...?

you imagery is so very vivid and reached deep within me like those deserts sands. While reading this, i felt the pangs of anxiety welling up inside me. That is a great of sign of great writing! I was feeling the suffocation and the heat. Well done my talented soul sister!

Oh dear, that is one frightening fear. But you know that can never happen there are far too many people that care about you.

Not only did you describe the feelings of being abandoned and being scared, but also you added a little extra spice when you comnntributed the demon looking sand storms that flew above your head.

So much imagery, bravo. xxx
