For Dave
A robin twitches just beyond my
Window as I twitch myself. My
Mind's at war. The forces of the
Realm of darkness fight to hold their
Land against the drug's insurgents,
Troops of light. The land itself is
Rent and barren. Even when the
Drug prevails, there's nothing left
To sprout and grow, and, soon
Enough, the dark returns. I watch
The twitching bird to try to calm
My own internal twitching, and my
Effort seems to work until the robin
Spreads its little wings and
Flies away.

I watch, engrossed. I will it so.A robin twitches just beyond my

Rent and barren. Even when the
