Physician, Heal Thyself

I cannot be the man who walks around
The man who cannot find the means to
End his love for her. I cannot probe or
Ask him questions. “Why don't you give
Up, you fool? She's gone. She won't be
Coming back.” “Unseen, she is, but there
Are signs she lingers, not yet wholly gone,
And so much that I need to know to
Make the choice to stay or go remains
Unknown. I thought that she was done
With me, but was not told that this was
So. I worry that she still wants what I
Gave to her.” “She'll never say.” “I
Know she won't, but, if there is the
Slightest chance that that is true, I
Must not take my love from her. It's
Something that she ought to have, and,
Anyway, I miss that woman. Tell me,
Is there anyone, or thing, at hand to
Take her place?” The man who'd walk
Around me would, at this point, surely
Shrug. “Who knows? You ought to
Have a look, but I believe I've seen
Enough. It's obvious you can't.”
