Please Sing

I heard you sing, you know. We all were
Singing. We were drunk, and Jake and I,
The nearest to you, yowled, a pair of
Injured cats, while you sang softly to
Yourself, not wanting anyone to hear.
I did. You have a lovely voice, and I
Know that you used to be in choirs,
Used to be up front, not very many
Years ago. Does anyone still hear
You sing, or is that something else
You've cast aside as you reduce your
Life? I don't know why you've
Withdrawn so. I do know I've been
Cast aside (for better reasons than
Your singing). I can't come to say,
“Come out.” I hate to see you giving
Up. Oh, Ariel, please sing.
