We miss you

I don't know what happens
To me,
To the air around me,
To the ground beneath me,
To all the things around me,
When you are gone.

I am surprised by their stillness,
Maybe
Reflecting my quietness;
They are all sitting around looking
Unlooking at me.

Why didn't you tell the wind
To touch me,
Why didn't you ask the plants
To talk to me,
Why didn't you request the Sun
To wake me up, it's Rays kissing me;
Why didn't you make the moon
To put me to sleep- gazing at me,
And enfolding me in its moonlight;
Why did you not bid the raindrops
To play with me and be my playmate.

Next time instruct them as I say,
They d listen to you, I know;
For they miss you as much as
You miss me.

Kathy Lockhart
soft and sweet this sounds to my ear and yet there is a troubled spirit within it. the Why of it. There is the sadness. It is so much longing to be loved as one is loved, to be missed as one is missed. The delicacy of each comparison expresses so much how tender and fragile this one's heart is. My own heart breaks for such deeply felt pain of rejection or at least the feeling of rejection. How wonderfully you have written this poem. This must come from a place of truth and real life to know such questions as these. Applaud for courage, and strength and artistry! hugs, kathy

This poem is a heart breaker. It's beautiful and so tender. The gentleness of it reaches the heart. Simply beautiful.
