Heavenly
Once brilliant star, now mostly lightlessMass, she keeps her place. She is the
Center of my universe. She holds me.
I must circle her. I'm trapped, a hapless
Meteor who wishes it could break
Away to fly toward another star,
A comet, sorrows trailing off until
It warms or shrinks to nothing.
She could start to burn again, to
Soothe the chunk of rock she holds,
But I see little chance of that. I glumly
Orbit in the darkness, knowing
I am trapped.
