Nature's Litmus Paper

What can we do when it is raining outside
And atrazine is falling from the sky?

Can we offer an umbrella to the frogs?
Or simply cover the pond

Is there a way to filter the herbicide
When so little can cause such harm

How can we stop this poison
When it is spread by the pounds

Toxic chemicals are passed around
From country to country

With the promise of plentiful inexpensive food
Like some toxic peace pipe.

The solution lies when we take notice of the frogs,
Bees and butterflies

They are nature’s litmus paper
Of what will become of the rest of us.
