An Ordinary Day

I have a day to blunder through alone,
And I am uninspired. All the world
Is cool and damp. My only hope would
Seem to be to lose myself in fantasy,
And that's what I intend to do. Oh,
See me now. I'm underwater, swimming
Slowly over neon-colored coral, fish
Of many shapes and sizes near.
They are ignoring me. When I get
Tired of doing this, I'll leave the water,
And get dressed (I'm not sure where;
It doesn't matter), and I'll go to
A casino. I will face the roulette
Wheel, the cruelest mechanism
There, and I will win! I'll get free
Drinks, and, at some point, perhaps
When I am looking for something
To eat, a woman of exquisite beauty
Will look up and smile at me,
And say she'd like to see the coral.
I will lead her underwater. We will
Swim together through the brains
And leaves and pulsing flowers.
We won't blunder. We'll be graceful.
I won't be alone.
