To Live
I would like to live with you, my love. No, I don't mean move in with you.
I mean move past these long, dark
Months, these swiftly-moving, sluggish-
Feeling years of cares, and terrors,
And of dull responsibilities. I would like
To have you here to help me to turn
Existence inside out, to thrust those things
Away, and place the beauty of the trees
And fields, the breeze, the brilliant sky
Close by, to bathe, as would some heedless
Bird in water, in your love; to live, in other
Words, to thrive with you beside me,
Rather than survive.
