What I said.
What you heard...

Are light-years apart!

Perfectly misunderstood

Feels painful, achingly painful,

I feel caught in a cage of my mind

Unable to get through to you.

Without proper communication

what we say is not understood

When the words seem incoherent

It creates so much distance

Between the mind and heart.

It becomes a distance

impossible to traverse

when communication

is misunderstood

Words only create a haze

Causing an ever growing chasm

When what is heard

are only echoes of the truth.

To feel misunderstood

Is like being caught in a cage

words seem to create a haze

Where all that is heard are echoes of your own pain.

This is great topic, one especially worth consideration by people who write. Language is so misleading. It causes you to believe that you can effectively communicate with others, when, in fact, language is very ineffective. Most of the time, what you mean to say isn't what others hear. It's not unusual to receive comments which make this quite clear.

Perhaps, we'll laugh about it someday.

Ashe, you may have inspired me! I may have to write something on the same theme. Wasn't it Saint-Exupery's Little Prince who said "language is the source of misunderstandings"?

In this age of myriad and instant means of communication it would seem unlikely to miscommunicate. But, of course, that is not the case. It is far too easy, in this day and age, to INSTANTLY miscommunicate. The trick is to untangle the mess, and that is no small task.

Humans, women and men, women and women, men and men, were meant, I believe, to face each other, not text and tweet and skype. That's why eyes, lips hands, and hearts evolved to be the sensuous speakers of our minds.

Intransigence is a different problem.
