Forget About the Future
The sages tell us do not shun the present for the future.Doing so will bring us misery, and I see just that in your
Face. On Saturday, you have to leave, and we will be apart
Again. I dread that thought so much as you, but, dear, it's
Thursday. We're together. I am thrilled to have you here,
And I believe that, when you stop to feel the present, you are,
Too. Hold onto me. We have two days. Let's drag our feet
To drag them out. We'll breakfast at eleven in our bathrobes.
We will close the bars, and, when you're on your way back home,
Recall and celebrate the past. Believe me, my own sadness
Will be great enough for two.
