Plea to the Muse
I'd like to write a trim, fit rhyme
free of sugary clot and cloy:
my bombast (so they say)'s a crime;
simplicity is health and joy!
I'd love to jot an epigram
(an agile zing, a wee quick dart)
but I'm a thick and fatty ham.
Teach me a leaner, limber art.
