Nothing Like Nostalgia
An ancient recollection brings another, and then, suddenly,The old man falls into a hole and finds himself again
In school, again among the ones he'd hoped he could
Impress, and others, more like him, who tried and failed,
And skulked away at last, red-faced, mocked, to teach
Themselves to be uncool. A half a century has passed.
He wonders how those cool kids fared, and how those
Who were scorned got by. He cannot know and never
Will, as he has spent the years alone. He shrugs.
He has some things to do, and climbs out of the hole.
