‎ataraxia

that which is pleasurable   that which brings joy

if that is   at it usually is   doing the dishes   or if it is

jogging in the park   or if it is thursday evenings singing

at the shelter   or if it is working hard to meet a dead

line   or cooking breakfast for marketa   sitting on the patio

with colin's grandfather   walking the rows of vines

with colin   visiting antoinette and nathaniel   or if it is

any number of other things deemed worthwhile to me or

those around me   why not   why not revel in a life of

self-indulgence   if that is the nature of the indulgence   we

claim this philosophy as ours   as suitable   as antidote

to the sting of those who revel in judgement   having been

on the wrong side of society's judgment for as long as

we can remember   in its name we claim freedom from fear

Wow. Just the word I needed to hear. How do you keep your optimism alive? Thanks for writing this. I felt it for a moment.
