An Exercise

To regain my footing

in poetry,

I note the particulars

of this morning:

the brewed coffee

that tastes like home

and wakefulness;

the brassy sunlight

of a cooler day

than the last two;

the kitchen lights

that do not need to be on;

the guttural yawn

of an airplane

leaving Logan

for parts west;

the twit-tootle of an avian friend

saluting the still-fresh day.

An interesting exercise, Tom. :) Poetry surely comes out of watching and meditative contemplating.

I see no sign of unsteadiness.

An excellent exercise, Tommo. Members of Coo & Co appreciate the attention to detail throughout this piece. And of course our favourite lines are the final two, for the avian friend. Woo-hoo! :>)
