"We Hold These Truths to be Self-Evident"
Soberly deliberative, and white, and racist,Terrified of even incremental change, we
Order you to go and vote. Democracy
Depends on you, and stasis does, and we do,
Too, the skimmers and the grifters and the
Scions who employ us to assure that those
For whom you voted never think to inconvenience
Them. We all know you'll have turned away
The minute that the polls have closed,
And that, far from deliberative, you'll
Twitch, like rats in Nazi labs, to ads
We place on your TVs, outrageous ads,
Made up of lies. Meanwhile, we'll work
The legislatures and the courts to keep those
Who are neither white nor racist, nor
Especially unwilling to consider change
From voting. Such folks may be citizens,
But they are not the sorts on whom our
Nation can depend to navigate the steady
Course we crave, and save democracy.
