A Story of Rose

Like a rose, she bloomed and blossomed
but her life resembling leaves in autumn
pretty and vivid, velvety and full of power
that was the outside, the inside, inside poured torrential showers.

One by one, the petals began to fall
her mind pervaded by lifeless thoughts of all
dropping, dropping, the pieces covered the earth
a thousand tears from her eyes as she contemplated her worth.

Until there was left one shriveling stem
whose thorns provided defense for its substance within
thorns, thorns, punished her heart
she touched one, she broke it apart.

So unlike a rose, which blossoms, withers and dies
she blossomed, withered, but came back to life
thorns instilled, a bud begins to grow
one by one, the petals start to show.

What alovely little story of a rose.
I like the way it comes back to life in the end, a very positive approach here you have.

This is such a sorrowful poem but one with a lot of meaning. I love your comparison of the girl to a rose, and I especially love the third stanza. Well done :)
