Men

Men! There's something wrong with them.
A late night meeting, out of town,
With Mr. Lodge, her preening boss,
Concludes with him on top of her.
She sobs. He simply strides away.
She tells her husband. He goes crazy,
Says he's going to murder Lodge,
Though not to resurrect her honor.
He's concerned with his. Predictably,
Her husband misses. Lodge is wounded,
And he heals from that, but her complaint
Draws blood. He's sent to prison and he
Pays her an amount that's not disclosed,
And, in the end, with both her husband
And her boss now far from her, she doubts
That she will ever need, or even want, a man.

Eye-opener! I wonder how many men would recognise themselves in this scenario? I salute you for this insightful, honest piece.

Speak to any woman and the sexual surprise at the end of a meeting/lecture/training session will be rolled out. I was happily learning irregular Spanish verbs, at 18 years of age, went to catch the bus home and the kind offer of a lift from the tutor suddenly and unexpectedly turned into a fight for my honour! Nobody believed me. I’m not surprised. It came right out of the blue.

Well written.
