Homo Sapiens

Come, walk with me to witness what our kind does
In its vileness. In Auschwitz, we can see a place
Where black-clad, upright Christian bastards
Mastered automated slaughter, bent on wiping out
The Jews, yet, then, in Palestine, the Jews themselves
Resort to wanton slaughter to eliminate the Arabs,
Who once owned the Jews' claimed land. In Myanmar,
The Buddhists say the Muslims there are interlopers
To be killed and sent away. In Africa, the Hutsis
And the Tutus slit each other's throats. In Turkey,
Kurds are to be killed. In Pakistan, the Shiites are.
In our own over-rated country, black men fall,
Gunned down by white-skinned cops, and children
From the south, who want no more than to be safe,
Are separated from their parents, cursed,
And sent to cry in jail. The world cooks as members
Of this species stab and shoot and maim each other.
Mold's more dignified. Perhaps the warming
Of the planet and our subsequent demise, will be
The greatest gift that our sort could provide
To other species, most of which, endangered
By our presence, probably will flourish after
We have gone.
