For Jim
Across the parking lot. You lacked the strength
To say hello. We all have problems. Life is
Hard, and, for that reason, it seems right
To offer up a smile and some semblance
Of a cheery greeting, possibly a little joke,
To someone who is passing by, but you know
Me. I grunt and grumble. Consequently,
You took care to walk the other way.

Sourpuss
You saw me walking with my trademark scowlAcross the parking lot.
