Where Did I Go Wrong?

I bought a slice of pizza.
As I ate it in the park,
I grew sleepy and I closed my eyes.
I woke up in the dark.
On the way to my apartment,
I felt I would like some more,
But the door was locked.
There was nobody in the pizza store,
So I bought a sausage sandwich,
Which I took home in a bag.
As had happened with the pizza,
While I ate, my eyelids sagged.
When the morning sun arrived,
I got up, still in my old clothes,
With a pair of greasy hands,
A piece of napkin on my nose,
And I pondered what had happened.
Had I made some grave mistake?
I concluded that I had:
I'd tried to eat and stay awake.
