Hi everyone,

Ok, first week with the new code appears to be going without a hitch. No one has reported any issues, and we've found no issues either. So, that's all looking good.

Although the big code maintenance part is done, we nonetheless encountered another little bit in the code that's questionable and in need of rewriting (every time we think it's all done, we find another bit! But I'm pretty sure we won't for very long more). It's a minor part though, so it won't be trouble to clear up.

This week I continued on finishing up the tidying up in our files and doing database maintenance to complete the updates - coming along well. And today, we began on the server-related part. Made a few adjustments, so now just need to observe if it improves things.

So, the code maintenance part (well, the major part of it) is completed and we're moving on to the other few things left to sort out. All going well...

Hi everyone,

This week I completed Phase 2 (extensive testing/adjustments) of the work I started last month. I'm very happy to announce everything works as it should! -YAY-

So, yesterday, I began Phase 3, which is the last stretch of final testing before upload to the site here. My tests from yesterday returned 5 small issues that need minor adjustments. Compared to the first lot of testing in Phase 2, which returned two full pages of issues varying in degree of complexity, it's moving along extremely well.

It's looking like the changes will finally be able to be uploaded by the end of this week. Moving closer :)

PS: I previously said that the bugs/issues found during testing were fixed, and they are, except for the friends' latest 5 texts order of listing in My Friends' Texts. We'll get back to that one later.

PS: The issues I added on the What's up? list on 29 May have been fixed this week while I was doing the testing. Their status aren't updated because the fixes haven't been uploaded to the site yet, but they are fixed.

- (Challenge) Themes | Incorrect publish date on Todays' Texts challenge display (date when the challenge theme is saved in drafts instead of current date)

- Order of Friends' latest 5 texts on My Friends' Texts is incorrect

- Diary | Access to comments from authors who have deleted their account not working

- My Texts | Search text adjustments needed (punctuation, unpublished)

This week went really well in the testing/adjusting of our updates. The testing phase is a long one to get through, but we're nearing being able to start the uploads to the site.

However, due to this week's performance issues on the site, we're now investigating what is going on about that. Once we pinpoint the trouble, we're hoping our updates will address the issue.

Hi everyone,

A bit of a setback this week. I'm nearly done, but our development environment's equipment failed (before backups of course) and we're trying to sort it out. Hopefully I didn't lose all of my work! If so, I'll have to start all over. So fingers crossed it won't be the case.

While doing the extensive tests I've been doing on my changes, I've come across a few bugs which I've added to the What's up? issues list. We'll be taking care of those as soon as we recover our dev. environment.

Hi everyone,

Happy to report that this week went really well as far as my progress in the updating of our code goes. There were difficult parts (as new ways always bring), but got them sussed out! -yay-

I completed the conversions/updates throughout the few hundred files that our site is made up of, and today, I've begun extensively testing all of the changes to make sure there won't be problems once they are uploaded on the site. And so far, so good! It's all working without a hitch.

When the testing is completed, and everything confirmed as working, we'll be uploading them on the site here. As mentioned previously, when we do, we'll be giving you a notice again.

PS: While testing, I noticed that the Friends' latest texts list on My Page wasn't displaying the supporter member heart! Fixed that.

Hi everyone,

Just to let you know that our work progressed very well this week. Came up against a few hold backs in the way the new code works, but am quickly learning its quirks! I was able to get through half way of a few hundred files, and it's all working.

Although I did previously announce that we'd be making updates on the site (I'd made a few at that point), we've reconsidered that 'as-and-when' approach, and concluded it'd be best to extensively test our changes as a whole instead of bits and pieces at a time for this particular block.

So, for the moment, we've suspended transferring our changes to the site. But as soon as we're ready to put up the changes on the site, we'll notify you again.
