The Democratic Charade

It's pointless to even call this corruption.
It's simply the way things work. The CEO
Takes the shareholders' money and uses it
To donate to the campaigns of well-coiffed,
Well-suited, so-called representatives
Of various districts' brain-dead voters. Money
Talks. It buys commercials, signs and true
Believers who hand out brochures (containing
Lies), and, when the polls have closed,
And the incumbents all have kept their seats,
They call their benefactors to learn what
They have to do to keep the money coming
(And their jobs), and, soon enough, they learn
How they can help those helpful CEOs.
The voters and the shareholders will suffer,
But that's just too bad. “Democracy”
Is but a fig leaf covering the age-old truth:
The ones on top get what they want.
The rest can go to hell.
