Dismal Afternoon
It's been gray all day, and cold and windy,Just the sort of day to make someone morose
Wish he was sleeping, and I do, but I'm
Awake. Dinner's hours off. All of the news,
All dreadful, has been read. I have some
Laundry I could fold, but there's no joy
In doing that. At work, the music I must
Hear is so bad that I now hate music.
I can't play it when I'm home. I sit in silence,
Curse the gloom, and hope I'll fall asleep.
