White Americans
White Americans tremble in fearOf germs and dark-skinned criminals,
Crooked teeth, and lawns with weeds.
Each of them owns a gun and has alarms
Attached to everything. Each white
Child will have to wear braces, and play
Inside, as the outdoors is rife with
Microbes, perverts, murderers.
White Americans reach for their guns
Whenever “socialism” is said.
They like how things are, they guess,
They don't know. It's okay if the rich
Grow richer while they don't, so long
As the rich are reliably white,
And their own homes, however humble,
Are germless, and there are no weeds
(No children, or perverts, or socialists)
Out on their lawns.
