to suck away humility
to point fingers and raise glasses
in your favor, at your expense
one can see the benefits
of a head held up high
independence and a personal drive
recognition when others turn a blind eye
self worth and internal praise
thin ice when life becomes a race
stealing other people's pedestals
and demanding they keep up with your pace
bragging rights and admiration
bowing is for someone who's finished
"watch me as i thrive", always ranked the best
"you could never taste this amount of success no matter how hard you try"
and they will always fall from their high
the higher the pedestal, the harder the fall
constantly fishing for attention and the highest honor
just to present it when they feel inadequate and small
