Sheberghan
Pack light. The world's close to ending.Look into the mountains when it's dark,
And you will see them there. At dawn,
They'll come, and our defenders, paid
Sometimes, and sometimes not, will bleed
Into the crowds along the streets. They'll
Drop their weapons somewhere, strip off
Their insignias. They waited for
The planes to come, but none arrived.
The mullahs' troops move ever forward.
In America, it's said, a woman can be
Educated. Men can choose to shave their
Beards. Such choices are endangered
Here. I beg you, lightly pack. Let's leave.
The world we had hoped would last
Is coming to an end.
