Goodbye Again
We say goodbye again. The sky is cruel,Gray as always, but now rainless. Evergreens
And mountains loom, a claustrophobic
Tableau, tailor-made for thoughts
Of suicide. The one bright thing in sight
Is she, and she has climbed into her car.
I'll be back home by late tonight, to
Cloudless skies and sprawling plains,
To light at some point, but, for days
To come, a clinging gloom.
